Who is the Texas Red Wolves Hike and Ruck Club?
Texas Red Wolves Hike and Ruck Club is one of Dallas/Fort Worth's newest hiking and rucking groups based out of the Roanoke/Trophy Club, TX area. This free club welcomes all recreational hikers and ruckers in, but not exclusive to, the far North Fort Worth area that includes Roanoke, Trophy Club, Keller, Soulthlake, Haslet and Argyle. Whether you live in this area or further out, if you are looking to join a hiking and rucking club we might be what you are looking for!
Our goal is to build a rucking community that will earn the right to become a GoRuck recognized Ruck Club.
What is "rucking" and how do I do it?
Rucking is walking with a weighted backpack. Anyone can ruck anywhere; trails, suburban sidewalk, downtown, off-road, anywhere you can walk! Rucking is an inexpensive and simple exercise that burns calories and builds aerobic endurance due to the added weight.
Steps to ruck:
1. Grab a backpack.
2. Load it! If you are new to rucking it is advised to start with about 10% of your bodyweight. You can use bricks, dumbbells, weight plates, sand baks, water bags, just about anything as long as it will fit in your pack.
3. Start walking! How far and how fast is entirely up to you.
Why would I ruck?
You can transform your body with rucking in many ways! You will build up muscle, especially your shoulders, core and back. You'll shed fat as you burn up to three times as many calories as you could walking without the backpack. Best of all, you'll get the same benefits of running and jogging without the same risk of injury!
